First Test

Well today I took my First Test as a post-graduate student. I can’t say that it was fun or easy, but I think I did well. For those of you who are wondering why I’m back in school,I decided to keep going so that I could keep my job for one,but also and more importantly so that I can work towards a Masters. As far as that goes,I have yet to decide whether to do my masters in Statistics or Computer Science,or if I’ll even continue this little experiment through to completion consecutively. Computer Science is not really filling the need as it were, and I don’t know if I want to do the Math for Statistics. I also miss working full time;not having disposable income is starting to take it’s toll on me. Regardless,I’m here for this semester at least,so I may as well make the best of it. Hopefully I’ll find out how I did on my test on Thursday.

As for the rest of life, not much has changed;still have the same girl, still in school, still living at home, still working at school. My self teaching of C# has taken a backseat to learning ADA,the language that I need to use for one of my classes. However,I still have a couple side projects going. ADA is a different programming style then I’m used to,it’s like a combination of c-style programming and PL/SQL that I learned in Database last year. Ironically I know a few different c-style languages but have yet to learn C or C++,however I did buy a book on C++ to start figuring it out when I get a chance.

That’s about all I have for now,if I find more time I’ll try and update more later.

What’s New?

Well,it’s been a while since I’ve updated this again,so I thought I’d provide some insight into what’s going on.  I recently and finally graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BBA in Management Information Systems and a math minor.  Right now I’m still working there, though unless I get a full time position then I will have to stop at the end of the summer as I can’t be a student worker without taking classes.   I’m looking for a new job in the Information Technology Services sector, possibly something like I’m doing now or maybe an entry level programming job.

I’ve been teaching myself C#,which is something like a combination of Java and Visual Basic .NET that I’ve taught myself before, and I’m really excited about learning it.  I’ve written a few programs with it already, one for work and some for practice that provide information for some games I play.   They are not very complicated problems but they suit the purpose of implementing some of the knowledge that I’ve been acquiring.   It really is fascinating, and I am starting to think that I should have chosen computer science for a major instead of business, but with what I’m learning on my own I don’t think it would hold me back from a job.

Other then that, things are going pretty well in my personal life.  I’ve got a girlfriend now, she’s great,we have alot in common.  We recently helped my Grandmother move down here from Tennessee, and it’s great to be able to see her all the time.  I’m going on vacation soon, going to six flags twice and a family reunion.   Other then that, things are about the same.

I Don’t Care Who Said It

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on,the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses . . . →Read More:I Don’t Care Who Said It

Something Positive

No doubt if you know me at all,you will understand that the election results are not something that I am entirely happy with at the least. However,as bad as the political ramifications may be for our country down the line,I can at least appreciate a few positives that came out of this . . . →Read More:Something Positive

Debate Impressions

Well,we had the final presidential debate yesterday, and it was probably the most interesting of the three.  I was hoping for McCain to do better, and he did.  It’s hard to win against Obama in public speaking, but my opinion is that when it comes to the issues,McCain is better then Obama.  That’s . . . →Read More:Debate Impressions

The Path to Socialism

All over the news lately we have heard about the crisis in the financial market and the need for government to act.  There has been a massive amount of fear generated about the possibility of a global depression should some of these massive financial institutions fail.  Fortunately, our government is on the job.

Take a Hike,Ike

Well, our power came back on tonight, and with the tree removal service coming in tomorrow it looks like we’ll be out of this mess. This has definitely been an educational experience. We’ve experienced what it is like to be in a hurricane, grown closer to our neighbors, and have a few more stories to . . . →Read More:Take a Hike,Ike

Update on the Aftermath

Well, things are going well here.  We’re still out of power, but I’m expecting it to come back up within the next 24 hours,as they have it across one of the major streets and ours is next in a logical projection I created in my imagination.  We’ll see how that works out.

Fortunately,after . . . →Read More:Update on the Aftermath

Ike Recovery

Just to give some of you who are looking at this website some information about how things are going with us,I’m not sure what they are showing on the national news.  We have the local news streaming to us over the internet.  Ironically, our cable is out but the internet is still working!
